What are Black Teas?
Black Teas are fully oxidised / fermented teas with withered black leaves and a high caffeine content. Darjeeling and Assam are two of the most renowned Tea-producing regions in India, their teas revered for the delicate and bold flavour profiles, invigorating aromas, and strength. Black Teas are incredibly healthy and have abundant beneficial antioxidants that boost overall health.
What are the health benefits of Black Tea?
Black Teas are a rich source of antioxidants called 'Polyphenols'. These help in reducing cell damage and help in boosting overall immunity. The 'flavonoids' present in Black tea boost heart health by reducing bad cholesterol (LDL), triglyceride levels etc, reduce high blood pressure. Black Tea also helps promote the growth of good bacteria in the gut and helps strengthen the body's immunity. Black tea also helps improve focus and memory.
What are the different types of Black Teas available on Vahdam?
We have a wide range of signature single-estate black tea blends, sourced from renowned gardens of Darjeeling and Assam, and ranging from first flush black teas, second flush black teas, to autumnal teas as well. Along with this, we also have exclusive in-house variants like the Earl Grey Black Tea, English Breakfast Black Tea, Oakwood smoked Black teas, Spiced Black Teas known as Chai Teas.
What is the best way to make Black Teas?
The best way to make a perfect cup of signature black tea is to get 200ml of freshly-filtered water to a boil (90-100 degrees celsius) and add 2 grams (0.07 oz) of your favourite black tea to it. Switch off the heat, cover it, and let the tea steep for 3-5 minutes depending on how strong you like your cup to be. Strain into a cup and sip while hot! The best time to have a cup of black tea is the morning or early evening. Since black tea has considerable caffeine (less than coffee) and hence should be avoided before bedtime. You can add a splash of milk to your black teas, but the best way to relish it is to have it plain.
Is Black Tea rich in antioxidants?
Yes, Black Tea is the second-richest in beneficial antioxidants, after Green Tea. Teas from various elevations, flushes and gardens vary in their antioxidant capacity. Also, a special class of polyphenols (a type of antioxidants) called 'Theaflavins', improve the functioning of blood vessels and also aid in weight loss.
